UNTITLED was born for Daniela Vitale from the encounter with the artist Francesca Woodman. The American artist, born in 1958, began photographing herself at the age of 13 and died at 22 “from an excess of life”. The performance explores Woodman’s biographical and artistic universe through a play of reflections and correspondences between the photographer’s imagination and that of the actress/performer on stage. The story comes alive through the words of the diaries, the fairy tales and myths that appear epiphanically in Francesca’s writings, and thanks to the narrative power of the photographic images which, once questioned, come to life.
It is a project that, like Woodman’s photographs, places the body at the centre, a body that becomes language, that disturbs, unsettles, that resists attempts to tame it, to neutralise it. Because “the power of civilisation, its primary aim,” as Lacan said, “has always been and still is the neutralisation of the body”.

Daniela Vitale, actress/performer from Catanzaro, trained with Peeping Tom, Romeo Castellucci, Sosta Palmizi. As a performer she works with Oht at Centrale Fies in Dro. Since 2013 she has collaborated with n.O. (Dance First Think Later) by Elena Gigliotti (Premio Scenario 2013). With the project UNTITLED#22 she won Migra-Menti and Bando Cura 2025.
