Dustin O'Halloran is an American pianist and composer, member of the band A Winged Victory for the Sullen, with which he has released five albums. Even as a soloist he has already released five albums, all acclaimed by the world of music critics. The songs from her first solo album Piano Solos (2004), are used by Sofia Coppola as a source of inspiration for the screenplay of Marie Antoinette, for which she then composes three songs that become part of the soundtrack. Following this, O'Halloran released two more solo albums: Vorleben (2010) and Lumiere (2011), the latter mixed by Jóhann Jóhannsson. As a member of A Winged Victory For The Sullen, in 2016 he works on the soundtrack of Jalil Lespert In the Shadow of Iris. In the following years the band released Atomos (2014), based on music composed for a dance piece by Wayne McGregor.
In 2015 he won an Emmy Award for the music of Transparent (2014-2017), while in 2017 he received a nomination for the Academy Award, the Golden Globe, the BAFTA for the soundtrack of Lion. In 2021 he publishes Silfur for Deutsche Grammophon. Crafted in Iceland during lockdown, the album explores the shifting perspective of music across time and space.
