I can't tell when it started. I simply couldn't imagine the future at a certain point. Where do you see yourself in five years? And in ten? I don't see myself, I don't imagine myself. Completely incapable of projecting myself into a living room, a city, a role, least of all an idea. This for me is the concrete manifestation of depression. The impossibility of thinking of myself in a place or in a space. A static entity, with a natural predisposition to melancholy and firm roots in the capitalist fabric of our century, stuck in the generation of memes, black humor, ferocious irony that becomes salvation.
Still Alive reflects all of this, exploring the various stages that the depressed body goes through. A composition that smacks of "still life", a still life that lets itself be observed, helpless in its impossibility. Without ever forgetting, quoting Van Gogh, that “There is no blue without yellow and orange”, and this is my attempt to bring out the light. Probing the abyss, to then go back up. As long as we're here. As long as we are, in fact, still alive.
Caterina Marino is an actress and author. In 2021 she is the author, director and interpreter of Still Alive, the project winner of the Special Mention at the 2021 Scenario Award and finalist at the 2023 In-Box Award. To accompany her on stage and on the videos, Lorenzo Bruno, visual artist and video creator of various theatrical productions and Marco Fasciana, director graduated from the Silvio d'Amico Academy, assisted her. Not an established company, therefore, but paths that intertwine. Still Alive is one of them.
