Over 400 performances from 1990 to 2008 on 3 continents. Quixote and Sancho return this year to new life and, riding their improbable mechanical steeds, embark on astonishing adventures. Quijote! is a tribute to fantasy and imagination, dedicated to all those who have lived and live to assert their truths. The old man who goes mad from reading and his evil squire were created to be easy targets for cruel jokes. But, if one delves deeper, one can interpret the story in a very different satirical sense: a generous and lovable soul, full of a spirit of adventure and capable of wonder, in a vulgar and anti-romantic world ends up as a madman. Cervantes' ingenious invention, which through amusement, paradoxically provoked by cruelty, confronts a society with itself (Quixote is an implacable deforming mirror), finds in the show a scenic translation that does not limit itself to reproducing the text, but tries to dig into it to find the Quixote that lies within each of us, artists and spectators.
Teatro Nucleo sees theatre as an instrument of evolution for both spectator and actor. It focuses its attention on the relationship created between these, taking care of their most intimate aspects. This transversal perspective permeates its actions in productions, training and artistic direction. It does not see a preferred audience, it identifies in the human being of any gender, ethnicity, age, social class a possible interlocutor. An independent theatre, a permanent workshop, which has been researching the art of the actor for 50 years.
