TEATRO DA MANGIARE?

productionTeatro delle Ariette 2000
‘Teatro da mangiare? was conceived in a kitchen, the kitchen of our Ariette house. Sitting around a table, preparing and eating a real meal, we recount in our own way our singular experience of farmer-actors, of life in the country and of theatre made outside the theatre. After its debut in 2000, the show has behaved over time like a real living organism, growing, maturing and enriching itself with the experience of more than 1300 performances around Italy and Europe. Since then, many things have changed in our lives, but the contagious force of this ‘self-portrait’, this public autobiographical confession, continues to surprise us. Around the large table where we gather, actors and spectators, to share the time of a lunch or dinner, something happens that we are unable to explain. A ritual is performed that is so profoundly human that it catapults us into the heart of our present, into the absolute moment of the ‘here and now’, without mediation, into the evident and disarming truth of our lives.’
Teatro delle Ariette is a theatre company founded in 1996 by Paola Berselli and Stefano Pasquini together with Maurizio Ferraresi, which produces, studies, organises and promotes theatre in Valsamoggia, where they built with their own hands, in the middle of the fields, the Deposito Attrezzi, a former rural building that became a theatre in 2017. Their shows (more than 30 creations in 30 years of work), have had more than 2500 performances (in Italy, Germany, France, Spain, Switzerland, Belgium, Portugal). In 2020 they received the ANCT National Association of Theatre Critics Award.
