Hamlet is the work that, more than any other, inaugurates modern culture. As a mythical character, Hamlet gives life to a broken, torn, lost character. Hamlet is split between humanist faith and cognitive skepticism, between sign and simulacrum. He is torn, on a psychological level, by the dispute between his father's name and his mother's affective appeal, between the golden past and the decadent present, between eros and rejection of the body, between reason and insanity, between recited or directly experienced madness.
In its openly metatheatrical nature, the Shakespearean text places the problem of the theater at the center. A theater intended as a show, that is, simulacrum, deception, falsehood, hypocrisy. From this point of view, the "spectacle" has now completely invaded, together with the kingdom of Denmark, its court and its courtiers, our entire contemporary world: here reality asserts itself as such only as perpetual fiction.
To this widespread spectacle, Hamlet opposes a theater that knows how to unmask the deception, become an instrument capable of trapping the conscience of the spectator.

Teatro del Lemming, founded in Rovigo in 1987, is a theater research and experimentation company. The group established itself, starting from the nineties, as one of the most innovative realities on the scene through a theatrical journey, unique in the Italian panorama, which is characterized by the direct, dramatic and sensorial involvement of the spectators. The Company has for many years been the creator of an original theatrical pedagogy called The five senses of the actor.
