Radio Clandestina returns to Rovigo after more than twenty years where it was a guest of the Opera Prima Festival, at its debut.
This seems like a story that begins one day and ends two days later, which is consumed in a few hours. But this story of a few hours is inserted here in the story of the 9 months of Nazi occupation in Rome, and then in that of the 5 years of the war, of the 20 years of fascism.
«It is a myth told upside down. The massacre of the Fosse Ardeatine is known to all, and in particular for the Romans it marked the most tragic moment of the Nazi occupation. It often happened to me to talk about the project I was working on and after a moment I saw the cashier of the bar or the theater technician who approached me saying "I am the son of the little boy who played football in via Rasella on the day of the action. partisan ”or“ my name is Carla because my grandfather was called Carlo and he died in the Ardeatine ”. At first it seemed like a coincidence, but then thinking about it it is not difficult to understand that the 335 dead in the Ardeatine have hundreds of families, thousands of people behind them. Yet the story of this massacre is always known in reverse ».

Ascanio Celestini's works are grafted onto the so-called narrative theater, given that the actor-author generally tells the spectators the stories of the protagonists of the show. Celestini's shows are characterized by an essential scenography, typical of monologues, where even the movements of the actor are reduced to a minimum, in favor of a very original and irresistible affubulation.
