CONCERTO FOR MANDOLIN AND STRINGS IN C MAJOR BY VIVALDI
coreography Gil Kerer
with Gil Kerer, Lotem Regev
music Concerto for mandolin and strings in C Major by Vivaldi
performed by Avi Avital e l'Orchestra Barocca di Venezia
We gather our tenderness, remain steadfast and strong, and dance to the sound of the mandolin and strings, returning the primary experience of dance with humility and joy.
The choreography is composed as a dance at the same time adult, youth and child: music and dance as a celebration, as a space of freedom, simplicity, virtuosity, intimacy and friendship.
Vivaldi's Concerto for Mandolin and Strings in C Major premiered at the Curtain Up Festival 2020 in Tel-Aviv. On the occasion of the 35th International Choreography Competition in Hanover, the work was awarded for the choreography, obtaining the prize for the production of the Pforzheim Theater. Furthermore, in 2021, the choreographic piece received the award for best interpretation by the Israeli Ministry of Culture.
Gil Kerer began her professional career in dance with KCDC (Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company) and with the Vertigo Dance Company. Since then he has worked with numerous independent choreographers, including Niv Sheinfeld & Oren Laor, Maya Briner, Dana Ruttenberg and Rachel Erdos. In 2011 he created his first solo, which won the first prize for emerging choreographers at the Mash Festival in Jerusalem. Since 2015 he has been working as an independent choreographer, presenting his works in Israel and abroad and also carrying out an intense teaching activity in contemporary dance. In his work Gil Kerer, through a gentle and delicate stage presence, searches for a human and intimate physical expression.
