"Lines" are a recurring theme characteristic of Pina Bausch's many works: they are moving sequences formed by repeated steps that dancers perform one after the other, forming a sort of queue. They often move around the audience.
The Pina Bausch Foundation still keeps this theme going with the project "The NELKEN-Line": anyone can participate and dance Pina Bausch's most famous "line": "Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter", from the "Nelken" performance of 1982. With a small pool of specific movements, this "like" talks about the different seasons, with dancers walking around in a way that creates a long line.
The Nelken Line will be recreated in Rovigo on Saturday 14th September, starting from 19.00 at Giardini Due Torri and moving through the city streets (requested availability: 17.00-20.00). A video will be filmed to be sent to the Pina Baush Foundation to be published on their website and social media together with the ones filmed all around the world.
Those who want to participate, being a single person, a school, a group, must send their participation request at: operaprimafestival@gmail.com with the object: Adesione Nelken line by 12 September 2019 at the latest.
The choregraphy will be thaught the same day of the performance itself, starting from 17.00, by Mariglia Maggipinto, Pina Bausch's dancer for a long time. Everyone is invited to this event, who wants to live an extraordinary experience by trying one of Pina Bausch's most well-known choreography. Ballet and theater lovers, pros and hobbyist, dancers, actors, experts and curious people of all ages: this is your moment to shine!

Marigia Maggipinto, dancer, has worked with the Tanztheater Pina Bausch company from 1989 to 1999. She started her professional career in the Fondazione Niccolo' Piccinni company (J. De Min/Roberto Fascilla). In 1985, she's part of the international tour with the Danzatori Scalzi di Roma contemporary dance company, she acts in the movie "Il Giovane Toscanini" by F. Zeffirelli. She works side by side with Pina Bausch in 14 choreographies. In the United States, she works on a performance with the Mutation Theater Project company. She also teach at the American Dance Festiva faculty at Dake University (2003, 2004, 2005). She works with Emilia Romagna Teatro (ERT) to create a performance directed by Pippo Delbono, "Dopo la Battaglia", which won the UBU prize as "Best italian theater performance" in 2011. She teaches masterclasses and workshops in Italy and in Europe.

Pina Bausch directed from 1973 the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, located in Wuppertal, Germany. Its name is linked to the term Tanztheater (theater-dance), used in the 70s by some german choreographers - among them, Pina Bausch herself - to explain a clear artistic project that wants to be something different from ballet and modern dance by including acting elements, i.e. theatrical movements and words, with clear drammaturgy intents.
