Hamlet's questions are our own questions. His hestiance is our hesitance. From here, from his inability to act, we created Hamlet private.
Hamlet private is a perfomance like nothing before. It offers to a single spectator at time a private, one-of-a-kind experience about the Hamlet each of us has deep inside of himself. Hamlet private is a reinterpretation of Hamlet's story narrated through the divinatory system of twenty-two original cards, with the direct involvement of the spectator, who becomes the author of this reinterpretation and at the same time becomes able to explore his own life and doubts.
A confidential Hamlet, who leaves the traditional theater and welcome a single person in a place that is "other". Sitting together at a table, actor and spectator create together a personal and intimate performance, following the fate of the cards unveiled one after the other. The story of the Prince of Denmark and the story of the spectator become one, become intertwined. Only at the end the plot will be revealed, born from the cards the spectator has chosen and the performer has understood. The audience can in this way discover Hamlet, man of our time, abyss of doubts, and at the same time, in this game, the audience can meet themselves.
«I sat down feeling hot and nervous... but after just some moment everything was calm again. The cards were speaking to me, to my soul... so sincere, dream-like and real at the same time. They told a story, my story. I was in those cards and Hamlet's tragedy followed its course, thinking about what I was, what I am, what I will be...» R.R. a spectator, from the diaries of the performance.
ScarlattineTeatro was created in 1998 by Anna Fascendini and Giulietta Debernardi. It believes theater should charme, capitavate, seduce, dazzle, surprise, make someone sad and also happy, consume, transform... life . It believes in the plurality of voices and ideas, it loves to risk as it was a game. As a choice, both poetical and political, ScarlattineTeatro creates performances that can be set everywhere. It tries to find always new ways to stay together and make art, moving between different languages and worlds in order to break the walls between theater, performance, ballet, music, images. For ScarlattineTeatro, spectators are travel companions, to infect and engage. “ScarlattineTeatro is a disease, it's infectious, acute, contegious. Unique to the pediatric time, not only as a numerical age, but as a moment in life in which we look around with a gaze that's full of curiosity and wonder. If you contracted it, you're going to have its memory on your skin for the rest of your life.”
