AFRICAN DANCE WORKSHOP | sign up
by Marta Marrone
<GRATIS | PRESERVATION REQUIRED>
The workshop, open to all, proposes an encounter with traditional West African dance. We will get in touch with our bodies and move together, guided by the rhythm of African percussion. An experience to release one's energy, in a collective and sunny way. And above all, fun!
Every dance is an expression of the culture it comes from because it absorbs and expresses its essence. African dance is an emblem of this interaction, since it has managed to preserve this peculiarity in its entirety: to be the spokesperson for a tradition. Synonymous with festivity, aggregation and collective celebration, this tradition becomes contemporary today for the message of welcome and multiculturalism that characterises it.
Bo.Ro.Fra is a project that started in 2016 in the reception centres of the Porto Alegre Social Cooperative, as an animation tool aimed at asylum seekers. Over time it has generated opportunities for socialisation between foreigners and Italians, offering young people, families and the local community a generative experience of intercultural exchange. Asylum seekers and refugees are both beneficiaries and promoters of the project. Today, the project promotes workshops and educational activities for students, dance and percussion courses for children and adults, with a focus on young people.
Porto Alegre, within which the Bo.Ro.Fra project in Rovigo has its headquarters and life, is a multi-purpose social cooperative that offers socio-educational and care services and promotes the labour inclusion of socially disadvantaged people.
