This work stems from the feeling of living in a state of paralysis—of critical thought and of action—a condition of apathy that renders us passive, both socially-politically and in our private lives. Art, with its potential to act as a political gesture, can inspire liberation from this immobility. Dunque, siamo! (“Therefore, we are!”) is an experience designed for a single audience member per performance, aiming to ignite the spark of an intimate revolt against one’s own passivity: from being closed within ourselves to turning toward the world around us, from passive subjects strolling along the current of events to active individuals who create the event, performing an act of rebellion against apathy. Will we ever be able to bridge the gap between the world we live in and the world we desire? There is only one way to find out: take the first step.
MOMEC is a collective of individuals united by the desire to reactivate the capacity to remember. Founded in 2018 from an idea by Mario Previato, a former actor of Teatro del Lemming, the group—also including actresses Fiorella Tommasini and Antonia Bertagnon—explores the possibility of creating shared memories through experiences, installations, and participatory art forms. For MOMEC, memory is a space for encounters: with the city (Guide to Memory), with a cherished object (Common Subjects), with a stranger (Hasta la Memoria), or with a person far away in space but close in memory (Third Time).
