"In my family, there are stories that go untold, with the belief that what is left unsaid will never be known. No one ever spoke to me or my brother about my aunt's story. All we knew was that my father had three sisters, and that now we have two aunts—so one of them must no longer be alive: Daniela. I have no memories of her while she was alive, no recollections of the two of us together. When she died, no one told me. Then one day, when I was twenty-five, my father came to me and told me Daniela's story. He did so without stopping, without omitting anything, as if he had been waiting for that moment his whole life. This is my aunt’s story, as I heard it from my father. It’s the story of a man who tries to save his sister from death—but fails. Most of it is true. Some parts are invented."

Giulia Scotti graduated in acting from Grock – Theatre School. She has performed in several productions, most recently Elogio della vita a rovescio directed by Daria Deflorian. Alongside her theatre practice, she explores various expressive media, eventually approaching the world of comics. In 2020, with her debut graphic novel All That I Haven’t Forgotten, she won first prize at Milano Pitch, awarded by author Paolo Cognetti.
