Open Workshop with the ibodies company

This workshop focuses on the presence of the performer, understood as an act of testimony. It is an exploration of observing oneself, one’s thoughts, and one’s actions.
By expanding the concept of the “puppet,” participants will be invited to explore its meaning through physical and perceptual exercises that lead them to a deeper awareness of the body’s possibilities: its shadows, its gestures, its ability to generate pure creation.
The blocks we carry within us—shaped by years of physical conditioning or the daily judgments we make about ourselves and others—prevent us from truly diving into our inner abyss. By shifting our gaze toward the living experience of the body, we may witness the emergence of movements, gestures, or characters that are buried within—carriers of ancient and collective memories.
The impulse at the root of ibodies’ work stems from the awareness that theatre, as a space of representation, requires a unique and radical language—one that serves no agenda other than that of its own primary nature: to be pure language. In this sense, the poetics of awareness is the foundation of their ongoing search for a radical scenic language.

ibodies is based in Gothenburg, Sweden, and is led by Anmar Taha and Josephine Gray. Their works have been presented at festivals and theatres throughout Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and Asia.
