This work marks the culmination of a cycle that, from the Iliad to the Trojan Women to the Aeneid, explores the theme of the destruction of a civilization, of disorientation, and of exile.
The historical period we are living through makes us feel both like Achaeans bent on destroying cities and like Trojans adrift. Our face increasingly wears the mask of both the conqueror and the vanquished. We play both roles in the wheel of history—yet today, they seem to coexist. We are the destroyers of the planet and, because of that, also its victims—through climate change, war, and pandemics. In the terrible condition of migrants lies both the origin and, perhaps, the destiny of our civilization.
From a theatrical point of view, this cycle continues the company’s experimental research into the core structures of stage language: from dramaturgy as scenic writing to the invention of a space where the spectator experiences new ways of “being present.”

Teatro del Lemming, founded in Rovigo in 1987 by Massimo Munaro and Martino Ferrari, is a theatre research company funded by the Italian Ministry of Culture (MiC) since 1997. Since the 1990s, the group has established itself as one of the most innovative presences on the Italian scene, thanks to a theatrical approach that emphasizes dramaturgical and sensory involvement of the audience. The company has also developed a unique pedagogy over the years, known as The Five Senses of the Actor.
