“We (Charly & Eriel) grew up doing everything together. From dance to gymnastics, piano, and homeschooling—we were inseparable. Despite being three years apart, we were always compared, contrasted, and closely observed in our differences. Over time, we noticed that when we dance together, our movements are nearly identical; yet when we perform separately, our individual styles and approaches emerge clearly.
We’re too young to write a memoir is a space in which we explicitly explore our differences, trying to understand how they can enter into dialogue with one another when kept intact, rather than merging into a shared language. Throughout the creative process, we studied our personal vocabularies, experimented with embodying each other’s style, and delved into the psychological impact that constant comparison has had on us over the years.”

Mignolo Dance is a contemporary dance company founded in 2017 by sisters Charly and Eriel Santagado, bound by a longstanding creative and choreographic connection.
Their work stems from a desire to develop new languages that intertwine diverse artistic codes through movement. Their creations have been presented in Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Israel, Italy, Poland, and the United States.
