PIAZZA VITTORIO EMANUELE II
PIAZZA GARIBALDI
Written and performed by Thierry Parmentier
Co-produced by Festival Opera Prima
On the occasion of the 300th anniversary of Giacomo Casanova’s birth, Thierry Parmentier draws inspiration from Federico Fellini’s Casanova to explore the myth of one of the most iconic figures of the 18th century. The life of the great Venetian adventurer was one of daring exploits, eccentricity, and high-stakes risks. With The Seducer, Thierry Parmentier offers a playful, ironic, and imaginative portrait of this legendary character.
After working with international companies in Belgium, France, and Spain under the direction of choreographers such as Joseph Russillo and Maurice Béjart (he was part of the legendary Ballet of the 20th Century Company from 1976 to 1978), Thierry Parmentier moved to Italy in 1986, where he began his career as a choreographer. Over the years, he has developed a style that is as indefinable as it is recognizable—marked by a unique fusion of technique and theatricality, costume design (which he creates himself), choreography, direction, physical theatre, and expressive movement.
